Hippo explores the upbringing of two cousins: Hippo, a teenager addicted to video games, and Butterfly, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant who loves classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Butterfly’s love is not reciprocated by her brother, who prefers to indulge in the art of war and chaos. The result is a hormone-fueled tragicomic waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
