Art the Clown will unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they fall asleep peacefully on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that several major studios expressed interest in financing the film based on the surprise success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a full script, but he turned them down because he was certain they would never let him film the opening scene alone, which he describes as “very controversial.” Leone commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his depiction of horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, does all of his own special effects to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio hot on his heels to make the film more popular. Mia mentions that it will soon be the 5th anniversary of the original massacre, but that it took place on Halloween, and this film takes place on Christmas 5 years later, meaning the anniversary was only 2 months ago. So when my girlfriend asked me to watch the first two Terrifiers to prepare for this one, I wasn’t too excited. Turns out I love ALL of them. But this one, Terrifier 3, is special. I mean it when I say I haven’t laughed this hard in a movie in a long time. Leave it to the perverted ridiculousness of Art the Clown to make me laugh! It’s so over the top, so crazy, to the point where the kills become creative and intentionally funny, that I can’t hold it in any longer. He’s a truly unique villain because he’s as scary as he is funny. It’s very hard to do. And Damien Leone hit a gold mine with Art the Clown. He is the slasher hero of 2020, no questions asked. And this franchise will go down in history as one of the best in horror. If you are a horror fan, you definitely have to watch all of them. Each one has its own identity. The third one is my favorite, although the second one might be the best and has the most classic scenes. So funny!.
